Home Fragrance In Vogue

by: Carol Cass

The home fragrance market is booming. From perfume, toiletries, and cosmetics to pre packaged foods. It is currently a multi billion dollar industry that continues to show strong growth. The strongest growth has taken place in the last 5 years and is expected to continue through 2007 and beyond. Western Europe, Japan, and the US continue to lead with 65 percent of demand and over three-quarters of world wide production of home fragrance products. Rapid growth of home fragrance sales has also been registered in Asia/Pacific, Latin America, and Eastern Europe.
Market researchers attribute the growing trend of home fragrance popularity in the US to the fact that we are spending more time at home. We are using home fragrances to UN-stress ourselves and make our indoor environment a healthier and more pleasing place to be. And we like it, it makes us feel good. Consumer research is quite convincing. People feel better about themselves and are more comfortable at home when a home fragrance delivery system in use.
Market researchers also point out that consumers are eagerly embracing home fragrance products that neutralize odors and bacteria in our indoor air, not just cover them up. A stylish home fragrance delivery system which can be displayed as decor in the home or work place. Consumers desire an attractive as well as efficient home fragrance delivery system.
There are many home fragrance delivery systems available to us today. To the stylish and very much in vogue Fragrance Lamps which you won’t find in the local supermarket. Fragrance Lamps can be found in specialty gift and decor shops, and on line. Convection vs. Conventional Ovens… What’s the Difference?

If you are in the market for a new oven and you’ve already begun shopping for one, you’ve probably noticed that there are a few different types. Two of the most popular oven types are conventional and convection, and many newer ovens have the option of cooking food in either fashion depending on the set mode. The difference in these two types of ovens is the way in which the heat in the oven is dispersed during the cooking process.

Refinance Your Home Loan

Refinance home loan lenders are eager to lend money to any individual regardless of credit as long as the homeowner has a fair amount of equity in the home and the home itself is in a condition that can be resold. Refinance home loans are different than a second mortgage or line of credit in that the proceeds from the loan disbursement first pay off the original mortgage loan. The remainder of the refinance home loan proceeds leaves the homeowner to spend the money as they wish. Typically, refinance home loans carry lower interest rates than purchase mortgages.

Super Cat Urine Prevention Tips

Many times cat owners are at a loss as to why their cat doesn’t use their litter box. Here are some great tips that can help you solve the problem.

The litter box is the first thing you should check. It should be in a quiet, private area of the house. Many people put them in their basements and leave the door open a little as this not only creates a private environment but also keeps odors to a minimum in the rest of the house.

Some use a closet but if you do this be sure and keep the box clean to reduce odors in such a confined space and donÂ’t forget to leave the door open!

Another placement possibility is under a table. Many people find a place without carpeting is best from a maintenance point of view as tile or cement is a lot easier to clean.

Ask yourself if you changed the litter box in any way:

* Has the box been moved to a high traffic area recently?

* Does the box need cleaning?

* Is a new litter being used or does it have too heavy a scent (clumping and unscented is best).

* Has the depth of the litter in the box changed? Some cats like their litter deep, others shallow.

* Your cat has outgrown the box and needs a larger one.

* The box is too hard to enter and exit. This can be an issue for older cats.

Do not put food and water near the litter box. Cats like these two areas kept separate (donÂ’t you?).

If your cat has picked out a particular room to soil try closing the door to that room if you can or cover the target area with furniture.

Put a bowl of food over the target area as cats like to keep their eating area away from their “bathroom”.

Take your cat to the Vet on a regular basis.

If you have more than one cat get each one of them their own litter box.

Have you recently moved? A cat might smell an area where the previous ownerÂ’s cat urinated.

Let the cat alone while it goes so it can have some privacy.

If it is a new cat in your home it could take from three to eight weeks to get adjusted to the new environment. Be patient!

Was there a recent addition or loss to the family? A new baby, spouse? This is usually temporary until the cat adjusts to the change in their environment.

A change in your schedule can throw off your cat’s schedule as well and cause problems. Try and phase in major lifestyle changes gradually.

NEVER EVER punish the cat by kicking, hitting, chasing, screaming or rubbing their nose in their urine (remember the smell doesnÂ’t bother them). Cats cannot make the cause and effect connection like we can so punishment after the fact is useless and will only make matters worse.

Cats are naturally very clean animals and they know where they are going. It is important to remember this and try and help your cat overcome any stress or anxiety they might be having in a caring and loving manner.

How To Make Your Dog Appear To Be Incredibly Intelligent

Many people are under the mistaken assumption that commands need to be one syllable.

“Sit.”

“Down”

“Up” (in the car).

“Kennel up”

This is not an accurate understanding (or observation) of how dogs learn.

In my experience, dogs recognize sound patterns, rhythms and tonality. Have you ever noticed how your dog’s ears perk up when you ask, “Do you want a cookie?” just as much as they do if you just say, “Cookie”?

Now, when you’re out in the field, sometimes it’s best to have commands that are only one syllable. However, for non-essential commands, I like to incorporate a bit of humor into my training.

For example, “Shake,” becomes, “Slap me some skin, brotha,” or “What’s shakin’, Mama?”

And, “Hup” (short for “Get in the truck,”) become, “Get your tookis in the truck.”

“Kennel up,” humorously becomes, “Get in the mansion.”

“Bark” transforms into, “Who’s your daddy?”

The command I use for “attack,” becomes, “Easy.” Short for “Take it easy.” (This tends to fool the bag guy into thinking you’ve got an uncontrollably vicious animal. And tactically, it’s not always beneficial to let a potential assailant know you’re giving your dog the attack command).

When I put the food bowl down and make the dog wait for the release command, the normal “Free” or “Take a break,” becomes “Chow time!” (The release command in this context is situational).

Anyway–the point is: Have fun with your training. Your dog doesn’t inherently understand one word from another–he only gets the associations you create with each word. This is why you can train your dog in a variety of different languages, and your friends will think your dog is multi-lingual.

I once had a dog that spoke three languages. (Or understood three languages at least!)

And I’m not above lowering myself and my dog training for cheap laughs amongst my friends.

Meanwhile, they all think that the dog must be a genius. And trust me–your dog will have a big smile on her face as she soaks up all the attention, too.

That’s all for now, folks!

The Commitment to a New Puppy

There was a small dog named Fifi; she was a Maltese and also extremely spoiled. Fifi was purchased by her owner, Judy, five years ago and spent a delightful half-decade with her. They spent a lot of time together, the owner was a consultant and worked from home so she could spend a lot of time with Fifi, and in fact they had never spent a single day apart since Judy brought the tiny puppy home. Even when it was necessary for Judy to travel she would take Fifi with her everywhere, after all she was such a small dog it was easier to carry her in the special bag they bought or if need be in a little carrier for the airplane. They had formed an incredibly close relationship over the first three years they spent together, and then Judy’s husband entered the picture.

Body Worn Cameras You’d Never Guess

Denim never seems to go out of style. People wear denim jeans, denim skirts, denim dresses and denim jackets. It is as common a sight as just about anything you see today. That is why denim, specifically, denim jackets are one of the perfect ways to conceal body worn cameras. Hundreds of police departments and television stations couldn’t be wrong. That is just how popular the denim jacket with video camera is and a tiny, imperceptible hole is the only thing that separates this denim jacket from the one you buy off of the rack. Very clever indeed.

Another way that body worn cameras can be disguised is through a purse that has a mini camera installed inside. Nobody would think twice about the purse that you lug around everywhere. After all, nearly all women carry them, and because it is a purse, you can also conceal the mini DVR inside it as well. This nifty little purse has a camera that produces such crystal clear, color images that the video comes across better than most camcorders, which makes it one of the best portable recording video systems on the market today.

But let’s say you are a guy and you are required to dress up every day for work. You have to wear the old suit or sports coat, dress shirt and a tie? No problem. There are also body worn cameras that come concealed inside of a tie. This high-grade neck tie is also very popular with police departments and television stations and also produces images that are consistently sharper and clearer than most camcorders on the market today.

Growing Geraniums Indoors Or Outdoors

The geranium has long been a favorite plant for both garden beds and containers. This common geranium is actually a member of the genus Pelargonium while the wild geranium is a member of the genus Geranium. Both look great in gardens! Both the wild and common geraniums are suited for outdoor living, but the Regal or Martha Washington geranium is best kept in containers indoors.

Geraniums can be grown in planters on the porch, patio or garden. The ivy type geraniums are great for hanging baskets and window boxes. Make sure you use a container that is big enough for the plant or it will wilt (you may need to replant to prevent wilting as the plant grows). Use a soil that has enough aeration – either a commercial made mix or garden soil mixed with peat moss or perlite. Plant in a spot that is protected from strong wind and gets 6 hours sun a day. Make sure you water it frequently but do not let it sit in water.

The Regal or Martha Washington geranium is not suited for outdoor use but perfect for the indoors! Put your plant in a sunny window for best results. Perfect temperatures for your indoor geranium are mid 60’s during day time hours and mid 50’s at night. Fertilize once a month in spring and summer and every 2 months in fall and winter. Water weekly and use a container that has good drainage.

Some pests you might find making a meal of our geraniums include:
caterpillars
aphids
whitefly
mites
slugs

Most of these can be controlled with sprays, the aphids can be controlled with ladybugs and the slugs can be captured in a shallow dish of beer. Also, watch for subterranean termites that tunnel through the stems of your plant causing it to turn yellow and die. If you suspect these, treat the soil with special treatment.

Telescopes – Principle Of Operation And Factors

Telescopes – Principle Of Operation And Factors That Affect Its Properties

by: David Chandler

Telescopes are devices that are used to view the distant objects. They find its use in astronomy and physics. It enables you to view the distant objects by magnifying them. There are many types of telescopes and their prices vary according to the specifications. Many accessories are also available that can be used in conjunction with the telescopes. Small telescopes that are used as toys are also capable of viewing some objects around 50 meters away.
Principle in which the telescope works
The principle in which the telescope works is very simple. There are two lenses that make up the task of viewing the objects that are at a distance. One of the lenses picks up the light from the object viewed and makes it available at a focus point. Another lens picks up the bright light from the focus point and spreads it out to your retina so that you can view. The lens that picks up the light from the object is called the objective lens or primary mirror. The lens that picks up the light from the focal point is called the eyepiece lens.
Factors that affect the viewing of the object
The capability of the telescope to collect the light from the object that is viewed and the capability to enlarge the image are the factors that affect the efficiency of the telescope. The capability to collect light from the object depends on the diameter of the lens or mirror, which is otherwise called the aperture. The larger the aperture the more the light it can collect. Enlarging of an image depends on the combination of the lenses that are used. The eyepiece in the telescope performs the magnification.
Some of the world’s largest optical telescopes in operation
We say a telescope to be larger based on the aperture size. Based on this we can say that Keck and Keck II are the largest telescopes in operation with an aperture of 10 meters diameter. The Keck telescope is composed of 36 mirror segments. This is located at Mauna Kea, Hawaii. The next largest is Hobby-Eberly located at Mt. Fowlkes, Texas which has an aperture of 9.2 meters. You can get a list of the largest optical telescopes at http://astro.nineplanets.org/bigeyes.html.
Choosing your telescope
The choice of the telescope largely depends on what you want to observe. You can choose compound telescopes and refractor type of telescope for viewing through the urban skies. For the rural skies, you can use compound telescopes and reflectors. They are better than the refractors type of telescopes. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages. Hence, many people have different telescope for different purposes.
